    1. Log in as the local administrator on the computer. This is to ensure that you have full permissions on the entire machine.

    2. Any Antivrus or Antispyware should be completely disabled.

    3. If you are running Windows 7/8/8.1 (64 bit), it is recommended to disable your user account controls as it will cause conflicts during the installation.

    *SOLIDWORKS 2016 can only be installed in 64-bit system.


    4. Insert the SOLIDWORKS 2016 DVD.

    5. Launch ”setup.exe” file.

    6. In the SOLIDWORKS 2016 Installation manager, select “Individual (on this computer)” and click Next.

    7. In the SOLIDWORKS 2016 Installation manager “key in your serial number” and click Next.

    8. NOTE: If you have earlier version of SOLIDWORKS installed, please select: NEW Installation instead of upgrade from current version.

    9. On the summary page, click “CHANGE” under “Installation Location”.

    10. Under Installation Location, click “Browse” and add “2016” to the end of the installation folder. (C:Program filesSOLIDWORKS Corp 2016). Click “OK” and “Back to Summary”.

    11. Back to the Summary page, click “CHANGE” under “Toolbox/Hole Wizard Options”.

    12. Under “Toolbox/Hole Wizard Options”, click “Browse” for “Create a new 2016 Toolbox”. Type “2016” at the end of the current folder location (C:SOLIDWORKS Data 2016), click “OK” and “Back to Summary”.

    13. On the Summary page, tick “I accept the terms of the SOLIDWORKS” and click “Install Now”.

    14. Upon the completion of the installation, click “Finish“.

    15. Restart the workstation after the installation.

    16. Launch SOLIDWORKS to activate the standalone license on the workstation. A pop-up box with message “No SOLIDWORKS license activated, please activate the license“, select “Yes“.

    17. Select “I want to activate my SOLIDWORKS product now“, and click “Next“.

    18. Select “Automatically over the internet (recommended)“. – (Internet Connection required) and key in your email address for documentation purposes, and click “Next“.

    19. Connect to SOLIDWORKS server and activate license.

    20. Activation Succeeded. And the product(s) activated will be shown under the dialogue box.

    21. Click “Finish” and SOLIDWORKS will be launched automatically.
