How To Set Up SolidNetwork License Manager Server

Install & Activate SolidNetWork License Manager Server

Before clients can use SOLIDWORKS and acquire licenses, it's crucial to install and activate the SolidNetWork License Manager Server. This can be done on a standalone server connected to the network or on a client machine with SOLIDWORKS. If you choose a standalone server setup, only the License Manager is necessary, without the need to install the entire SOLIDWORKS application

 

Here are the following steps:

 

Installation

  1. Run Setup.exe with administrator right

2. Under “Install server components”, select “SolidNetWork License Manager (distributed licensing) on this computer”. Click “Next”.

   

 

      3. In Download Option, unselect the “use the background downloader for future service packs”.

 

  4. Back to Summary, accept the terms of the SOLIDWORKS and click “Install Now”.

 

5. After the installation completed, click “Finish”.

 

Activation

  1. Go to “Start”, under “SOLIDWORKS Tool 20XX”, launch “SolidNetWork License Manager Server 20XX” using administrator rights.

 

 2. Click “Yes” to activate products.

 

3. Check and Enter the Computer Name. Click “Next”.

Note: The Default port number and vendor Daemon Port Number are 25734 and 25735 respectively.

 

4. Click “Add” to add in serial number. Select “Automatically over the internet”, key in email and Click “Next”.

 

 5. Upon activation completed, a window will appear stating the Activation/Reactivation Succeeded. The product(s) activated will be shown under the dialogue box.

 

    6.  In Server Administration tab, click “Start” to run the License Server.

 

Enable Ports

Data traffic of SOLIDWORKS network licensing service goes through TCP/IP port numbers 25734 and 25735 by default. If server's firewall blocks the traffic through those ports 25734 and/or 25735, SOLIDWORKS does not start on workstations because workstations are unable to connect to license server. If that is the case, traffic through ports 25734 and 25375 need to be enabled in license server.

 

  1. Search for “Window Defender Firewall with Advanced Security”, runs as administrator.
  2. Select “Inbound Rules” and clink the link “New Rule”.

 

 3. Select “Port”.

 

Select the option "TCP" then "Specific local ports" and type the port number “25734, 25735”.Select the option "TCP" then "Specific local ports" and type the port number “25734, 25735”.

 

4. Select the option "TCP" then "Specific local ports" and type the port number “25734, 25735”.

 

 

5.            Select the option "Allow the connection".

  1. Typically, the workstations are connected to company Domain network. Select the option "Domain". But if your workstation is not connected to any domain, then it is required to select either "Private" or "Public" depending on the connection type.

 

7. Type any name for this rule and press "Finish".

 

    8. Search for “File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request – ICMPv4-In)” and “File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request – ICMPv6-In)”, right click and select “Enable Rule”.

 

9. Select “Outbound Rules” and clink the link “New Rule”.

 

 

   10. Repeat Step 3 to Step 7.

   11. Repeat Step 8 but search for “File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request – ICMPv4-Out)” and “File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request – ICMPv6-Out)”.

   12. Restart SolidNetwork License Manager service by pressing "Stop" button and then pressing "Start" button.

 

  13.  All done. Client pc now can connect and obtain license from the server.
