SOLIDWORKS Cloud Services

Preface

Starting in July 2023, all new purchases of SOLIDWORKS Desktop CAD licenses (Perpetual, Term, Standalone, or Network) will include Cloud Services as part of the subscription.

If you are a client with existing licenses on active subscription, you can upgrade your subscription to include Cloud Services, or continue to renew without Cloud Services.

 

What exactly is Cloud Services?

In essence, you will be given access to an online tenant on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. This tenant will have cloud-based roles, each containing different apps for communication, storage and collaboration.

If you have enough licenses, you can invite people onto your online tenant on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, where they can be given access to those roles and apps for communication, storage and collaboration with others.

We will be covering three roles and a short-list of recommended apps to try out to get you started.

The three roles are:

  • 3DSwymer
  • Collaborative Industry Innovator
  • Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS

Collaborative Industry Innovator

 

Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS

  • Collaboratives Designer (Role)- Install a 3DEXPERIENCE Connector add-in and use it within your desktop SOLIDWORKS products (SOLIDWORKS CAD/Inspection/Visualize). Providing a connection between your desktop SOLIDWORKS products and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  • Design with SOLIDWORKS- Enables you to store, access, share, and manage the lifecycle of SOLIDWORKS data on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, from within the native desktop SOLIDWORKS user interface using the connector add-in.

How easy is it to get started on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform?

  • Login to Platform/Tenant on a browser using a link
  • Use an Email address and Password for login (Online Named user licensing)
  • Invite Members to join your tenant (for Platform Administrators)
  • Assign Roles (w/License) to Members (for Platform Administrators)
  • Each Role has a custom set of applications
  • Once a member has the Role (w/License), they can start using the apps
