On this online collaborative platform, a variety of roles can be assigned to respective users, each role contains web applications catered to their respective job roles.

In this blog, we will be exploring some of the offers for 3D CAD design in the new 3DEXPERIENCE WORKS and comparisons with old school SOLIDWORKS Desktop.

SOLIDWORKS Desktop with 3DEXPERIENCE WORKS

SOLIDWORKS Desktop offline (Standalone or floating network license) with 3DEXPERIENCE Platform collaborative roles, connecting your SOLIDWORKS for collaboration and secure data management on the cloud.

Key Platform Role name: Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS (Contains "Design with SOLIDWORKS" App, linking your SOLIDWORKS Desktop through an add-in to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform with collaboration and secure data management on the cloud and access to more 3DEXPERIENCE Works solutions on the platform)

Your SOLIDWORKS Desktop is licensed offline (like in pt 1), but has connection and access to 3DEXPERIENCE Platform and its WORKS solutions.

3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS

3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS is online user account licensed with a built-in connection to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform with collaboration and secure data management on the cloud and access to more 3DEXPERIENCE Works solutions on the platform.

Key Platform Role name: 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS STANDARD/PROFESSIONAL/PREMIUM PACKAGES

(Contains "SOLIDWORKS Connected" App, installing and launching SOLIDWORKS Connected software on your computer, roles and licenses can be assigned to user accounts and can be accessed anywhere)

3DEXPEREINCE SOLIDWORKS is basically your familiar SOLIDWORKS CAD software, but not desktop offline licensed, rather it is licensed with an online user account and directly connected with the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

“SOLIDWORKS Cloud” offer

“SOLIDWORKS Cloud” offers a collection of entirely browser-based 3D CAD design and 2D drafting apps with collaboration and secure data management on the cloud and access to more 3DEXPERIENCE Works solutions on the platform. It is online user account licensed.

A total of nine different roles with apps for 3D CAD design, 2D drafting, collaboration and secure data management on the cloud. Roles and licenses can be assigned to user accounts and can be accessed anywhere. It is online user account licensed.
