Improve your productivity with SolidWorks Smart Fasteners
SolidWorks is filled with features that enhance your productivity when working in it. One of such useful feature is the Smart Fasteners. Smart Fasteners automatically adds fasteners (For example, bolts and screws) to your assembly if there is a hole or pattern of holes that is sized to accept standard hardware.
Smart Fasteners adds fasteners to available hole features in assemblies. The holes can be an assembly or part feature. You can add fasteners to specific holes or patterns, faces or components (all the holes in the selected face or component), or to all available holes. Smart Fasteners leverage on the SolidWorks Toolbox library of fastener, which comes filled with a large variety of standards such as ANSI Inch, Metric and other standard hardware. You can also add custom designs to the Toolbox database for use with Smart Fasteners. SolidWorks Toolbox is an add-in available with SolidWorks Professional and SolidWorks Premium. SolidWorks Standard licenses will not include this functionality and will not be able to utilize Smart Fasteners.
You could leverage on the powerful capabilities of Smart Fasteners by doing the following steps:
1. Activate the SolidWorks Toolbox add-in.
2. Make sure you are in the SolidWorks Assembly Environment.
3. Click on Smart Fasteners.
4. Start adding Smart Fasteners to your part. You can add fasteners to specific holes or patterns, faces or components (all the holes in the selected face or component), or to all available holes.
