Add New Stock Material in Technology Database for SOLIDWORKS CAM and CAMWorks

When you creating a CAM program using SOLIDWORKS CAM and CAMWorks, it is very important to define the material of your current workpiece. For different type of material, it will be use with different feedrate and speed. There are some default materials shown with material drop down list with the Stock Manager. You can select accordingly with your workpiece.

If you unable to find the material from the material drop down list with Stock Manager, you can follow the below steps to add new stock material:

1. Open Technology Database from the Commend Manager

       2. Click with “Feed / Speed”

   3. Select “Feed/Speed Editor”, which opens up the Feeds and Speeds Library

 4. Click with “Install from Archive”

   5. Select the existing material from the list, and click “Install Material”

     6.  Close all the material dialog box, and back to the Technology Database, you must click the “Update Stock Material Data” under “Feeds/Speeds” in order to display the new material on the default stock material list.

         This step some time will take a few minutes. After this step you can check the Stock Manager, you will see the material added.
